6 tips to help you remember more of the books you read. 1. Pre-read by skimming through the table of content, and each chapter, to ‘prime’ your brain. You are preparing your mind to absorb the content. 2. Highlight sentences or paragraphs of physical books with a marker pen. You can also highlight your Kindle books, and see a list of all your highlights online. 3. Take notes as you read. These can be main points, key terms or just jotting down anything you want to remember. Using voice notes and a mobile phone is another way to do this, as well as a good, old-fashioned pen and paper. 4. Summarise each chapter. Make your summaries short — a distilled version in your own words. 5. Find other sources that complement what you’ve learned. 6. Create a simple, colourful main map of the main message from the book.
