Investing needs both sides of our brain to be successful

What do I mean by both sides of our brain?

Trading and investing the markets is complex. You can spend a lifetime studying this subject and still only know a fraction of all the information that’s available and relevant, and that’s just for your investments.

And like any complex subject, it takes time and much learning to master how to invest to make a profit. Obvious, right? What’s the point of making a loss? Well, that’s what many people do when they don’t do their homework.

And all of this learning, studying, reading and practising the art of investing, uses your left brain. It’s a very analytical topic: studying a company’s essential financial statistics, reading about it, studying the website, reading the latest news, understanding what they sell, who manages the business, and so many other factors it can make your head spin. And that’s only the start.

And whatever method of investing you favour you will find it involves mathematics, analysis, reading, studying and perhaps listening to the opinions of people who are authorities in that market. It’s all logic, and left brain thinking, maths and analysis, particularly so.

So where does the right brain come into this picture?
