Has your old life has crumbled? Do you need a new beginning?

Nearly 5 years ago James Altucher wrote the best-selling book, reinvent yourself. As he wrote in the introduction, his marriage was over, his bank account was dwindling, nobody was publishing his books and new opportunities had dried up. And that was the beginning of his downfall — it got worse from there. But the book was the story of how he reinvented his life. Sometimes you have to face rock bottom before taking action.

It was a great read. And after 2020, could this be the right time to reinvent themselves for millions of people around the planet. It’s certainly true for me. My old life has crumbled away. Almost nothing is left. I need a new beginning and suspect that are many people in the same boat as me.

I think it starts with reflection and thinking about what you want for the future. Where do you want to be in a year, two years, or even five years' time? What do you want to be doing? With hindsight, I now realised there were aspects of my old freelance work that I really didn’t enjoy. Although I loved the teaching, I hated the badly behaved clients. The ‘no-shows’ were disrespectful of my time. Students who just wanted to ‘goof off’ instead of learning. One student was even taking drugs and his stoic, long-suffering parents were…
