Passion is a completely misunderstood emotion and quality in your life
But you can understand it with hindsight
There must be more articles and advice on the internet about how to find your passion than there are websites in the world. And from what I’ve read, there are myriad techniques and strategies for finding them too.
So is it worth trying to find our passions?
I think the answer is no — they will find us. Don’t spend your life searching. Instead, focus on what you enjoy doing, because it's there you will find them. We are often told there is one overriding passion that makes our hearts sing. This can be true. But for most of us, it’s not. It wasn’t for me. I have found, with hindsight, that I’ve had multiple passions.
My passions can come and go too. I’ve had passions that have lasted all of my life to date. But not all of them. I’ve worked in IT for most of my life as I had a passion for technology, which has now evaporated. It no longer interests me yet just a decade ago it consumed my life. I ran a blog on technology and published posts as regular as clockwork. It fascinated me.
Today, I am fascinated by completely new topics. The idea we should search for and focus the rest of our lives on one topic is farcical. It just doesn’t work for most of us. We have…
