The restorative value of sleep

And why it’s such a powerful way to heal your body

I don’t know if I’ve told you this, but I’ve had more than one health challenge these last couple of years. It’s a good job we cannot see into the future, because these are the sort of challenges we don’t enjoy, but they are, nevertheless, a massive learning experience.

And when I think about our purpose in being alive, it’s to explore our desires, enjoy the journey, and to learn from the lessons that inevitably crop up. So there really isn’t any dodging life’s lessons. They are there to teach us resilience, focus, and humility in the face of adversity.

It’s no good getting frightened and running into a corner to hide. You just have to face up to each challenge. And what a challenge my current health problem has created for me. But slowly, bit-by-bit, I am learning how to heal my body and by discovering what works and what doesn’t. I’m not a person to just blindly follow what medical professionals prescribe. Nobody knows all of the answers. But I realise many of these professionals have studied their skill on many patients, over many years, and have much wisdom to offer.
